Currently the WCS Honduras-Nicaragua binational program is developing projects focused on the conservation and protection of forests and biodiversity in La Moskitia, and in particular on issues such as the conservation and protection of the nesting beaches of the Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricatta), in the Pearl Cays, located in the Atlantic of Nicaragua, and in both countries actions to improve the quality of life of indigenous populations, strengthening indigenous community organizations, conservation and protection of their forests. In Honduras, WCS is also collaborating with local organizations to protect the country's largest wild population of Red Guara (Ara macao) and has initiated work to support the monitoring of reefs, fish, sharks and rays.
